The passage of time is always an abstract feeling. Just a year ago, I was tasked with the job to photograph and capture the essence of Topiary’s menu. In just a blink of an eye, there we were celebrating their one year anniversary. It is more often than not that we look back at the past, but when these memories slowly line up, it is hard not to reflect on the distance we have travelled.
It was a wonderful occasion to be able to see all these familiar faces again, and a joyous one to meet new ones. The last traces of summer hung in the air, slowly drifting around along side me as I photographed snippets of the night. The weather made it perfect to be outside on the patio, without having to worry about sweating a bucket or getting hyperthermia! The busy streets of SoHo below provided the ever so familiar buzz of Hong Kong nightlife.
The laughter of the evening was laced with familiar pop tunes performed by a local violinist Lily Louie, with her LED electric violin, a funky fusion of the past and the future. The anniversary wall slowly filled with signatures, as will the memories further down the road. Thank you for having me there, and I look forward to even more celebrations with you all!
